Liam Payne’s girlfriend, Kate Cassidy left Argentina just 48 hours before the singer tragically fell to his death on October 16.

The former One Direction star, aged 31, died after falling from a third-floor balcony at Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, sustaining injuries that were “incompatible with life.”

Liam had traveled to Argentina on vacation with Kate, his girlfriend of two years.

However, she returned alone to Los Angeles after extending their stay.

Reports now suggest that Kate gave Liam an ultimatum before she left: choose between stopping his drug use or losing her.

According to a source close to the couple, Kate believed that Liam’s drug use was causing tension, so she gave him an ultimatum.

The source claimed, “He chose the drugs, so she had no choice but to remove herself from the situation. She thought she was doing tough love.”

In the days leading up to his death, Liam posted videos on Snapchat showing their holiday in Argentina, with one caption reading, “Lovely day in Argentina [heart emoji].”

However, Kate decided to fly home to Florida, saying on TikTok, “I need to go home.”

A few days before the incident, Kate explained in a clip, “I was so ready to leave… I hate staying in one place for too long… we were supposed to be there for five days, turned into two weeks, and I was just like, ‘I need to go home.’”

Liam chose to stay at the hotel, while Kate departed.

A source close to Kate shared concerns that Liam was preparing for a bender.

They said, “She can’t leave, or else who knows what will happen? And if she leaves, what will he do?”

They added that after a week, Kate told Liam she wanted to leave, but he begged her to stay.

She eventually extended her stay but ultimately wanted to return home to her own bed and dog.

Meanwhile, an Argentine waiter, Braian Nahuel Paiz, 24, has been accused of supplying Liam with drugs, though he denies the allegations.

Paiz maintains that he and Liam struck up a friendship and took drugs together.
