Chelsea extended their perfect start to the UEFA Europa Conference League with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Bundesliga side FC Heidenheim at the Voith-Arena
Despite dominating possession, Enzo Maresca’s side faced stiff resistance from the hosts, who had two goals disallowed and forced Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jörgensen into several outstanding saves. At the other end, Heidenheim’s shot-stopper Kevin Müller was equally impressive, denying Chelsea on multiple occasions.
However, Chelsea’s quality shone through in the second half, with Christopher Nkunku and Mykhailo Mudryk both converting exquisite finishes from Jadon Sancho’s pinpoint crosses.
The victory solidifies Chelsea’s position at the top of the group with a perfect record of four wins from four matches, leading on goal difference over Jagiellonia Bialystok and Vitória Guimarães, both on 10 points.
