A latest movie promotion has sparked intense backlash against Nollywood actors Yemi Solade and Sanusi Izihaq, also known as Apa
The controversy began when their colleague, Rotimi Salami, shared a video on Instagram featuring Yemi and Apa in an intimate scene from the movie “5 Alive”.
The scene, which depicted the two actors as lovers, showed Yemi displaying affection towards Apa, including pecking him on the cheek and embracing him tightly.
Although the scene was intended to showcase the actors’ chemistry and dynamism, it instead ignited a firestorm on social media.
Nigerians expressed discomfort and outrage over the intimate portrayal of two men in love, with some accusing the actors of attempting to introduce gay scenes into Nollywood.
The backlash was swift and intense, with critics condemning the actors for allegedly trying to normalize homos3xuality in a traditionally conservative industry.
