Female footballers, Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis expecting their first child
Chelsea striker Sam Kerr and West Ham midfielder Kristie Mewis have announced they are expecting their first child in 2025
The couple shared the joyful news on Kerr’s Instagram account, with a post that read: “Mewis-Kerr baby coming 2025!” Mewis, 33, is carrying the baby.
West Ham extended their congratulations on Instagram, saying, “A huge congratulations to Kristie and her partner Sam, who have announced they are expecting their first child.”
Kerr, 31, is Australia’s all-time top scorer and a celebrated figure in women’s football. She has enjoyed a successful career at Chelsea, winning five consecutive Women’s Super League titles, three FA Cups, two League Cups, and the Community Shield. Despite signing a two-year contract extension in June, Kerr has been sidelined since January due to a knee ligament injury.
Mewis, who has earned 53 caps for the USA, joined West Ham from NJ/NY Gotham FC in December.
In March, Kerr pleaded not guilty to charges of racially aggravated harassment of a police officer in London and is scheduled to appear in court in February.
