A building collapse occurred on Ekhator Street, Ekosodin, in Benin City, Edo State, on Saturday morning, trapping several students of the University of Benin (UNIBEN)

The incident happened during a heavy downpour in an area known for its student population.

Eyewitnesses reported that a university rescue team quickly responded to the scene, successfully extracting some of the trapped students

However, multiple students suffered severe injuries and were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

Rescue efforts are ongoing, with one student still trapped inside the rubble. According to reports, the trapped individual made a distress call from within the building, and rescuers are working to locate and free them.
