“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Brooklyn Pendarvis. Brooklyn (Brookie) was such a bright light in this world, showing love and kindness to everyone she met. Please pray for her family, the students and staff of Highland Schools, and all who were blessed to have known Brooklyn. 🖤” a post on her death said.

Pendarvis was described as a light in the lives of all who knew her. She was a devout Christian who worked tirelessly at bringing the gospel to others. Her final post on social media was a biblical quote, reading: “for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose” Philippians 2:13.

In order to help her family, a fundraiser has been organized to raise money via Square. The organizer described the impact Brooklyn made in the Highland community as massive.

Many people pledged to donate and shared words of comfort to the Pendarvis family.

“Sending so many prayers to The Pendarvis Family!! Prayers and hugs for all the kids that go to Highland High School!” one such post read.
