Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs loses multi-million judgment to Michigan inmate amid mounting legal woes
Rapper and media mogul, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs legal woes continue to mount. Combs has now lost a $100 million judgment against a Michigan inmate who accused him of drugging and sexually assaulting him at a party almost 30 years ago.
On Monday, Derrick Lee Smith, 51, won the multimillion-dollar judgment by default in Lenawee County Circuit Court, after Combs failed to contest the allegations.
An attorney for Combs issued a statement denying that his client knows the plaintiff, Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith.
“This man (Smith) is a convicted felon and sexual predator, who has been sentenced on 14 counts of sexual assault and kidnapping over the last 26 years,” attorney Marc Agnifilo said in a statement.
“His resume now includes committing fraud on the court from prison, as Mr Combs has never heard of him let alone been served with any lawsuit. Mr Combs looks forward to having this judgment swiftly dismissed,” the statement added.
Smith, who is serving a 75-year sentence for sexual misconduct and kidnapping charges, filed complaints against Combs in June and August.
Combs has faced several other lawsuits accusing him of rape, sexual assaults, other instances of physical violence and distribution of “revenge porn”
In May, CNN published surveillance footage that showed the rapper, producer and business mogul being violent with his then girlfriend Cassie Ventura.
In July, Combs was linked to a fresh lawsuit filed by former adult actress Adria English. She alleged Combs hired her to have sex with revellers at some of his parties and allegedly threatened to blackball her and her model boyfriend if she didn’t comply.
