Paralympics 2024: Flora Ugwunwa Wins Silver Medal At Women’s F54 Javelin Throw

Flora Ugwunwa has won Team Nigeria’s 4th medal in the ongoing Paralympic Games holding in Paris, the French capital.

The 40-year old finished second in the women’s F54 Javelin event with a highest throw of 19.26m to claim silver, behind Uzbekhi’s Kurbanova Nurkhon who threw 21.12m to set a new World Record. The Uzbekhi exerted her revenge on the Nigerian after finishing second in the event 4 years ago.

This will be Ugwunwa’s 3rd Paralympics showing after winning Gold medals in the Tokyo 2020 and Rio de Janeiro 2016 editions. In Rio, Ugwunwa set a Paralympic Record of 20.25m, one that was smashed by Kurbanova today.

44-year old Salehi Elham from the Islamic Republic of Iran finished third with a 16.24m highest throw.
